Ammara Aqeel
Ammara is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and a fellow in the Office for Translation and Commercialization at Duke University. In 2021, she joined the David Lab to study the interactions between nutrition, health, and the gut microbiome. Her research revolves around novel DNA-based dietary assessment in children and adolescents and the clinical impact of these findings. Originally from Pakistan, Ammara came to Duke University in 2015 and earned a B.S. in biology and a certificate in science and society. Outside the lab, she enjoys all things nature and art, particularly long, autumn walks and drawing henna. She also loves chatting with friends and family over strong Pakistani tea!
