Caroline Rivera

Caroline Rivera is a Ph.D student in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at Duke University. She holds a B.S. in Exercise Science and a B.A. in chemistry from High Point University, where her undergraduate research in nutritional biochemistry focused on branched-chain amino acids and insulin resistance. Caroline joined the David Lab in 2024 and is studying genomics-based dietary assessments in young children to improve our understanding of how complementary feeding influences early microbiome development and health outcomes. Outside the lab, she enjoys cooking, hiking, spending time with friends and family, and playing pickleball with her cohort.

Favorite Food: Eggplant, especially in tortang talong!
