Kylie Reed

Kylie is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease—a collaboration between UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, and NC State—and joined the David Lab in June 2024. She completed her Ph.D at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, where she explored the role of intestinal microbiota in weight regulation, anxiety-related behavior, and energy harvest in anorexia nervosa (AN). She also holds a B.S. in health and exercise science with minors in biology and neuroscience from Wake Forest University. At the David Lab, Kylie is using FoodSeq to continue this research and better understand the impact of severe caloric restriction on the gut before and after AN treatment. Outside the lab, she is a fitness instructor at Pure Barre, an avid runner, lover of the outdoors, and frequent concert attendee.
