Nolan Ives

Nolan is a research technician for the David Lab. Prior to joining the team in March 2024, he worked as a research associate for a startup that was developing an all-in-one feeding system for the U.S. military. In this role, he worked to optimize the growth of plants, mushrooms, and microalgae within the prototype. Nolan holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from N.C. State University, where his undergraduate studies centered around plant and microbial interactions. At the David Lab, his responsibilities revolve around running samples through the FoodSeq pipeline and enhancing automation by adapting existing protocols to a liquid handler. In his personal time, Nolan enjoys specialty coffee, weight lifting, and hiking with his dog Ellie.
